Over denture (difficult dentures)

Mrs B aged 65 years

Mrs B had been edentulous for over 30 years.

She was having trouble eating with her lower full denture. The denture also moved a lot whilst speaking. Mrs B had an atrophic lower ridge. A cost effective option for Mrs B was to have two implants placed in the lower anterior mandible. They were restored with magnets after twelve weeks and have been in function now for 9 years. After 2 years the magnets were replaced with newer magnets. (This was a simple 30 minute procedure). Seven years later a new denture was made and again new magnets placed into a new prosthesis. There have been no maintenance problems with these implants or the prostheses.
